Video On Demand System
Premier Vision Video on Demand system provides in-room entertainment combined with a generous revenue share. The system is easily installed using your existing cable system, regardless of topology. Movies are transmitted over the cable system using a format that cannot be deciphered by the television set. In each room an addressable controller enables viewing of movies on an on-demand basis. Guest interaction is accomplished using the telephone in the room, selection of movies is accomplished by intuitive menus, using the telephone keypad for input. Movies are categorized and accessed by a five digit code which you give to the guest at check in. The codes are hierarchical ensuring that restricted or adult material cannot be viewed by unauthorized persons. Billing is immediate and pricing can be set locally. Installation The addressable controller installs in minutes and can be accomplished by local maintenance personnel. Simply disconnect the cable connection to the TV, connect it to the controller, and then connect the controller to the cable outlet with a second cable. An AC plug connects to a wall outlet, and the television set may be plugged into a convenient outlet on the controller itself. The controller may be hidden from view behind the television set or cabinet, it has no user controls and does not need to be touched for normal operation. A backroom system stores the movies on a removable disk cartridge which can be changed by maintenance or front desk personnel. It can be conveniently located in a room such as an electrical or storage room, provided the temperature does not exceed normal operating conditions. An internet connection must be provided for audit trail and support purposes, preferably a broadband or DSL connection. A second connection is made from there to the property management system for billing purposes. Operating the Movie System This is simple and intuitive. All guest input is from the local telephone. To gain access to the system he simply dials a local number in the hotel. A voice modem answers the phone, prompts him to enter and verify his room number, then the system puts up a menu on his television set. Continuing with the telephone keypad, he follows the menus to select and order a movie, then hangs up the phone. During movie playback the television is not connected only to the movie channel. Click on the name below to see some sample selection screens: Security Features We value your Guest's privacy and their right to choose any viewing material, but we also value the protection of minors against accidental viewing of material unsuited for their age group. We have implemented a purchase code system that ensures this cannot occur. Referring to the sample movie screen above, the final ordering process is completed by pressing the '1' key. This generates a pop-up screen on the television that requires a 5-digit code be entered. To ensure that this code does not fall into incorrect hands, it is only available from your personnel at check-in time. Your front desk personnel can make a decision what types, if any, of movies this person can watch. By selectively giving out codes, it can be assured that movies will not be watched by cash customers, or by minors. This system has been tried time and time again in over 10,000 movie sales, and found to be very effective. It also eliminates any operational requirement by front desk staff for checking in and out. Audit Trail An external audit trail tracks movie purchases, which is updated shortly after midnight every night. Using the internet connection, the audit information is e-mailed to our offices, where it is added to an on-line database. This can be accessed from this site by any internet-enabled computer. You can track purchases, post refunds and change pricing if you desire. There are two levels of access, determined by a login ID and password, one for management and one for front desk staff. Access to this database is from this site, see the client site link on the home page. To respect the privacy of hotel guests, no information about which movie is shown is collected or displayed. Front desk personnel are only able to determine which room purchased a movie at which price, Management may only see a summary by title. Please contact us for a demonstration login and password. |
